Work Related Road Safety Review
The consultancy programme is designed to review your current procedures with regard to Work Related Road Safety. The in-depth information and feedback you receive will allow you to create or update your policies and procedures to comply with the Health & Safety Executive Guidelines on Work Related Road Safety.
If a person is driving on behalf of your business, they are classed as being ‘at work’. In order to comply with the ‘duty of care’ you and the employee have, the review will concentrate on the following areas:-
- Senior Management having defined responsibilities for managing Work Related Road Safety.
- Have clear and comprehensive policies on Work Related Road Safety.
- Have organisational structures, which allow effective communication of Work Related Road Safety between departments.
- Ensure the competency of personnel who are required to drive at work.
- Evaluate training needs in relation to Work Related Road Safety.
- Identify appropriate Health and Fitness considerations, and provide advice for personnel who drive at work.
- Consider Ergonomic and Safety factors when purchasing vehicles.
- Ensure your vehicles are fit for the purpose intended.
- Provide appropriate safety equipment and ‘safety critical’ information.
- Evaluate and risk assess routes to ensure appropriate scheduling to minimise fatigue.
- To evaluate the suitability and measure the effectiveness of the Work Related Road Safety programme.
The duration is dependent on your requirements for an initial review or a full audit. A review will normally be a minimum of 1 day in duration. The duration of an audit will depend upon the size of your operation and the number of drivers.
