Norfolk Speed Awareness Courses Underway - March 2007

Driving Services have commenced their Speed Awareness Courses for Norfolk Constabulary, and feedback from delegates has been excellent.

Norfolk Constabulary wish to discourage motorists from speeding with a view to the encouragement of safer driving within the region, and it was felt that Speed Awareness courses were the way forward.  Following a rigorous tender procedure in 2006, Driving Services were awarded a 2 year contract.  The first course was held on 06 February 2007.

Joanne Roberts, NDIS Manager said “I am very pleased with the way the courses have been received.  Feedback has been excellent, and we look forward to our delegates putting into practice what they have learned and helping to make Norfolk’s roads safer”.

A cross section of those who attended the course were contacted to complete a “post course questionnaire”.  60% those contacted returned their questionnaires, and of all the responses received, an impressive 92% stated that they felt their driving had improved because of the training received.

Drivers who are eligible for the scheme are offered a choice of taking a fixed penalty fine and points on their licence, or they can pay £105 and opt for the Speed Awareness Course.  The courses are 6 hours in duration and are a combination of both theory and practical driving. Currently the courses are being held in Norwich.
