Driving Services Signals Changes - 19th April 2006

Driving Services has called for legislation to force motorists to signal their intentions when driving.

Drivers and riders of motor vehicles not signalling their intentions when driving is seen as one of the top three worst annoying features for other road users. In a recent survey carried out with 1500 business drivers, those who do not use signals at all or incorrectly came a close second to the aged old problem of drivers not using the left lane when not overtaking.

Steve Jones, a driver clocking up 40,000 business miles a year stated "It is frustrating when you are waiting to emerge from a junction or roundabout and oncoming vehicles do not signal, it would save time and ease congestion if they did".

Driving Services are to lobby for a change in the law to make it a legal requirement to signal if any road user would benefit.
