Driving Services Continues Successful Relationship in Humberside

Driving Services, a leader in the field of driver and fleet safety, has been re-appointed to be the training provider for “Speed Seminars” to those drivers who exceed the speed limit in the Humberside area.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council, in partnership with the Councils of Kingston Upon Hull City, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire and Humberside Police, wish to discourage motorists from speeding with a view to the encouragement of safer driving within the region. Driving Services was originally awarded the contract to provide Speed Seminars in 2002. The company has beaten the competition yet again and won the contract following a rigorous tendering procedure. Two types of seminar are offered, 30 plus and 50 plus, depending on the speed limit exceeded. The speed seminars are approximately two hours in duration and contain a mixture of discussion and information, looking at attitudes to speed and the effects and possible consequences of excessive and inappropriate speed. The seminar is designed to encourage the motorist to deeply question the reasons why they exceeded the limit and look at the potential consequences and risks. Other objectives of the seminar are to: Dispel the myths about saving time through speeding and taking risks. Highlight stopping distances. Explore the clients’ attitude toward speed and risk taking. Look at the consequences of a crash. Discuss statistics. Encourage discussion amongst the client group. Joanne Roberts, NDIS Manager said “I am thrilled that we have been successful with this tender, and look forward to continuing our relationship with the partnership ”.
