Norfolk Terms & Conditions
VERY IMPORTANT: By booking a Speed Awareness Course, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
Definitions:
- "Driving Services" - a trading division within DriveTech (UK) plc
- Should you have any queries regarding the incident you were involved in, please contact the Police directly, as this information is not disclosed to Driving Services.
- Failure to reply by your deadline date or declining the course will result in your details being returned to the Police and your offer of a Speed Awareness Course being withdrawn.
- You must arrive on time for your course. Late arrivals may be refused entry and your case will be returned to the Police. No refund of course fee will be made. You will be expected to leave plenty of time for your journey to the course venue.
- Places are limited and are reserved on a first come, first served basis
- You must bring your original driving licence with you to the course, a photocopy will not be accepted. Please note that both parts of the Photocard licence MUST be produced. In the case of a fixed penalty offence, the receipt for your driving licence must be produced. If you do not have a new style Photocard licence, you must also bring photograph ID with you to the course i.e. passport in addition the old style paper licence. You will not be able to take part if you do not have your full licence including photo identification with you and your fee will not be refunded. Every effort will be made to offer an alternative date, provided there is sufficient availability and time within the police deadline. A further full course fee will be required.
- Once a course has been accepted, an administrative charge of £10 will be incurred for any changes made by you regarding the course. This will be payable at least 2 weeks prior to the course.
- In the event of rescheduling your course for any reason (after payment has been received), a new course date will be offered subject to availability, authorisation from the Police and Driving Services finding a replacement for your space on the course. If no replacement can be found or it is not possible to reschedule your course, no refund of fees will be made.
- Payment must be received by your deadline date, unless prior arrangements have been made with Driving Services. If you have been authorised to send a cheque payment at a later date, it must be received at the office no later than 3 weeks before the course - no reminder will be sent requesting payment. Credit/debit card payments must be made by your deadline date, as soon as we receive your credit/debit card details, payment will be taken immediately.
- A letter of confirmation will be sent to you within two weeks of receipt of your payment. This letter will confirm the exact dates and timings of your course together with a location map. If you have not received a letter of confirmation within this timescale, please contact the office to ensure that payment has been received.
- A CASH fee of £10 will be payable prior to commencement of the course for each cheque returned from your bank unpaid. If your cheque is returned due to insufficient funds, you will be required to send CASH payment for your course, as a cheque will no longer be acceptable. Under these circumstances, your course date may be subject to change.
- Mobile phones etc must be switched off during the course.
- In order to complete, you must attend the course in person for the entire duration.
- Tea or coffee will be supplied during the break. The course is not residential and therefore accommodation is NOT provided.
- In the event of you being unable to attend or complete a course due to illness, a doctor's note (form MED3) will be required within 7 days in order that the fee paid can be considered for refund. Any refund will be subject to a standard administration charge of £10. Every effort will be made to offer an alternative, provided there is sufficient availability, time within the police deadline, and an administration charge of £10 is paid to Driving Services, at least 2 weeks prior to commencement of your new course date.
- In the event of you being unable to attend or complete a course for any other reason, the fee is non-refundable. Every effort will be made to offer an alternative, provided there is sufficient availability and time within the police deadline. A further full course fee will be required.
- In the event of wishing to change your course (after payment has been received), no refund of course fee will be issued as the course location is non-transferable.
- Driving Services reserves the right to change any part of the course without penalty.
- Should our trainers feel you are displaying any disruptive behaviour during the course, this could result in your expulsion from the course. Your details would then be returned to the Police and no refund will be issued.
- If our trainer believes you to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you will not be allowed to continue and your details will be referred back to the Police. No refund of course fee will be made.
- Identification of new evidence may result in the offer being withdrawn.
- Provided that contact is made by your deadline date, Driving Services will endeavour to find an alternative course date, providing there is sufficient time within the deadline given by the police.
- If you have any queries which are not covered in your documentation, please call the team at Driving Services on 0845 345 9623. Driving Services are open from 0800 - 1800 hours Monday - Friday
- You can only attend one National Speed Awareness Course within a 3 year period. If you have attended a Speed Awareness Course within the last 3 years, your offer will be withdrawn.
- Speed Awareness Courses are available in other counties, please visit the official NSAC website at www.driver-improvement.co.uk for more information. Should you wish to attend in a different county, please contact the office prior to sending payment.
- You must read the medical fitness declaration form.
- Driving Services do not arrange for interpreters, this is the responsibility of the client. If communication is not to a safe standard or you are unable to understand and therefore participate in the course, your course will be terminated. Should you indicate you are bringing an interpreter and then fail to attend with one, it is possible that you will not able to continue with the course. No refund will be issued under these circumstances.
MEDICAL FITNESS DECLARATION FORM
As your involvement with the Speed Awareness Scheme will involve on road driving, this information sheet reminds you of your legal obligation in respect of your medical fitness to drive.
If you have ever had or presently suffer from any of the conditions listed below, you must inform the DVLA:
- An epileptic attack or epilepsy.
- Sudden attacks of disabling giddiness, fainting or blackouts.
- Severe mental handicap.
- A pacemaker fitted.
- Diabetes controlled by insulin or tablets.
- Angina (heart pain) whilst driving.
- Multiple Sclerosis.
- A major or minor stroke.
- Any type of brain surgery, brain tumour, or severe injury requiring hospital treatment.
- Continued misuse or dependency on alcohol, illicit drugs or chemical substances in the last three years.
- Persistent difficulty with the use of your arms and or legs to control a motor vehicle.
- Parkinson's disease.
- Narcolepsy or sleep apnoea.
- Cataracts, glaucoma, laser treatment, visual field defects or progressive retinal disease of the eyes.
You should visit your GP immediately who will advise you about your continued fitness to drive. You should then write to the Drivers Medical Unit, DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1TU informing them of your condition and include details of your driver number, full name and date of birth. PLEASE NOTIFY DRIVING SERVICES IMMEDIATELY SHOULD IT BE NECESSARY FOR YOU TO FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE.
Once the DVLA has authorised you to continue to hold a driving licence and provided that your condition has not worsened, you are eligible to attend a Speed Awareness Course.
